Xenett - Project Management

Overview

Xenett is an accounting software suite designed to streamline financial processes. It offers automated reviews, faster financial close, interactive reporting, and practice management modules. By integrating with QuickBooks Online and Xero, Xenett enhances accountants' accuracy and efficiency.

Detailed Statement of the Existing Problem

Xenett's app currently separates the close process into a dedicated Close module, while all other tasks are managed through the To-Do module. However, accounting firms frequently handle additional projects beyond the close process. Users currently manage these projects by creating standard To-Do tasks, leading to inefficiencies and fragmented workflows.

Lack of Project Scalability:

The To-Do module, designed for simple tasks, is inadequate for managing larger or more complex projects.

User Confusion:

New users may find it unclear where to log certain tasks or projects, increasing cognitive load.

Reduced Efficiency:

Time and effort are wasted toggling between modules for similar project types.

Module Fragmentation:

Users must switch between the Close and To-Do modules, disrupting workflow continuity.

Comprehensive Approach to Problem Resolution

Replace the current Close and To-Do modules with a unified "Projects" module. This module will allow users to manage all projects, including the close process, within a single interface.

User Research and Insights

To understand the limitations of the existing To-Do module, I conducted user interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability reviews with accountants, CPAs, and firm managers. The research aimed to uncover how users manage tasks and where the To-Do module fails in real-world workflows.

To design effectively, we’ve identified core user types using Xenett. These profiles highlight user motivations, habits, and preferences in managing accounting workflows.

Project Manager Persona

This persona reflects users who manage accounting teams and projects, prioritizing real-time progress tracking, task automation, and reduced operational clutter.

Crafting Identity with Color & Typography

Colors and typography were chosen to reflect the brand’s personality while ensuring clarity and usability. Together, they create a cohesive visual language that enhances user experience and brand recognition.
